Brand Kit
Setting up your Brand Kit
The Brand Kit is where you teach Pop Convert's AI about your store. Everything on this page feeds into the popups the AI writes and designs for you: the words it chooses, the colors it uses, the logo it places, and the tone it takes with your customers.
If you've ever generated a popup and thought "this doesn't sound like us," the Brand Kit is usually the reason. A thin Brand Kit gives the AI very little to work with, so it falls back on generic ecommerce copy. A well-filled one means most popups come out close to ready, with only small edits left.
You set this up once. Come back to it when your branding changes, when you switch themes, or when you start selling something new.

Start with Auto-detect from store
At the top of the page there's an Auto-detect from store button. Use it first.
Pop Convert scans your live storefront and fills in most of the page for you: your logo, screenshots of your pages, the fonts your theme uses, and a first draft of your brand style, audience, and AI instructions.
Two things worth knowing:
- Auto-detection gets you 70-80% of the way there. It's a starting point, not a finished profile.
- Any field you've edited yourself is marked Custom, and auto-detect will not overwrite it. So the safe order is always: auto-detect first, then edit.
Fields filled by detection show an AI generated tag. Once you change one, that tag changes to Custom.
Logos
What it's for: the AI places your logo at the top of most popup layouts.
How to fill it: upload up to 5 logos, either from your computer or from your Pop Convert Image Library. If auto-detect found a logo on your storefront, it appears here already, marked AI detected.
Why you'd want more than one:
- A dark version for light popup backgrounds and a light version for dark ones
- A horizontal lockup for wide banners and smart bars
- A square or icon-only mark for compact popups
Give the AI all the variants you have and it will pick whichever fits the layout and background it's generating.
Tips:
- Transparent PNG or SVG works best. A logo with a baked-in white rectangle will show that rectangle on colored popups.
- Upload the highest resolution you have. The app scales down cleanly; it can't scale up.
- If auto-detect grabbed something odd, like a payment badge or a partner logo, remove it.
Store Screenshots
What it's for: these are visual reference for the AI, not images that appear in your popups. The AI looks at them to understand how your store actually looks: your spacing, your button shapes, how much color you use, whether your pages are dense or airy.
How to fill it: up to 5 screenshots. Pop Convert auto-captures some during detection, and you can upload your own.
Good ones to include:
- Your homepage, top of the page
- A product page
- A collection page
- Cart or checkout
- Any section with a look you particularly want matched
Tips:
- Retake these after a theme change or a redesign. Old screenshots will pull your popups toward your old look.
- Full-page or above-the-fold captures both work. Avoid screenshots that are mostly whitespace.
Fonts
What it's for: the AI uses these fonts when it builds popups, so the popup reads as part of your site instead of something bolted onto it.
How to fill it: fonts detected from your theme are listed automatically, with the available weights shown beside each name. Use + Add font to add one manually, and Remove to delete one.
Tips:
- Detection sometimes picks up fonts that aren't yours. Icon fonts installed by other apps are the usual culprit, and they often show up with no weights listed. Remove anything you don't recognize as a real brand font.
- Two or three fonts is plenty. One for headings, one for body text, maybe one accent.
- If a font is missing weights you use, add it manually.
Primary Language
What it's for: every piece of popup content the AI writes will be in this language.
How to fill it: pick from the dropdown.
Tips:
- Set this to the language your customers read, not the language you use in your Shopify admin. They're not always the same.
- If you run a multi-language store, set this to your main market's language and translate or rewrite the other versions after generating.
Brand Style
What it's for: this is your visual identity in plain words. The AI reads it to choose colors, contrast, spacing, and overall feel.
How to fill it: write a short paragraph. Auto-detect gives you a draft; edit it so it's accurate rather than flattering.
What to include:
- Your dominant colors, with hex codes where you know them
- Any accent color you use for buttons and calls to action
- How your layout feels: dense or spacious, rounded or sharp-edged, bold or restrained
- The mood you're going for
Example:
Clean and clinical. White background with a deep blue accent (#0057B8) used for buttons and headings. Generous whitespace, rounded corners, no decorative elements. Type is modern sans-serif and easy to read at small sizes. Overall feel is calm, trustworthy, and professional.
Tips:
- Hex codes do more work than adjectives. "Modern and clean" tells the AI almost nothing; a hex code tells it exactly what to use.
- Mention what to avoid if you have hard rules, like never using red, or never putting text over photographs.
Business & Audience
What it's for: this drives the substance of the copy. It's the difference between "Sign up for our newsletter" and an offer that speaks to what your customers actually came for.
How to fill it: describe what you sell, what industry you're in, and who buys from you.
What to include:
- Your main product categories
- Your industry or niche
- Who your customer is, as specifically as you can put it
- How they buy: quick impulse purchases, careful research, repeat orders, gifts for someone else
- Anything unusual about them that would change how you'd talk to them
Example:
We sell home coffee equipment: grinders, espresso machines, and accessories, mostly in the $150-$900 range. Our customers are hobbyists who already drink coffee daily and are upgrading from a basic setup. They research heavily before buying, read spec comparisons, and care about build quality more than price. A lot of them come back for beans and accessories after the first big purchase.
Tips:
- Specific beats broad. "People who like coffee" produces generic copy. The example above produces copy that mentions upgrading, or specs, or a first-order accessory bundle.
- If you sell to two very different groups, say so. The AI can write differently for each.
AI Instructions
What it's for: these are your rules. Everything the AI writes has to follow them. This is where you put the things you'd tell a new copywriter on their first day.
How to fill it: write clear instructions, one idea at a time.
What belongs here:
- Tone. How you want to sound: warm, direct, playful, understated.
- Discount limits. The most important one. If you never discount above 10%, say so, or you'll get popups offering 25% off.
- Words to avoid. Terms that feel off-brand, or ones your industry doesn't use.
- Words to use. Product names, house terminology, how you refer to your customers.
- Claims you can't make. Health, safety, performance, sustainability, or anything with compliance implications.
- Spelling and formatting. British vs American spelling, whether you use exclamation points, sentence case vs title case.
Example:
Tone is warm and direct, never pushy. Never offer a discount above 15%. Don't use exclamation points. Avoid the words "cheap," "amazing," and "game-changing." Refer to products as "pieces," not "items." Never make claims about health benefits. Use British spelling.
Tips:
- Be concrete. "Be professional" is hard for the AI to act on. "No exclamation points, no emoji, no slang" is easy.
- Add to this over time. Every time you edit a generated popup for the same reason twice, that reason belongs in this box.
A few extras
The Custom tag. Once you edit a field, it's marked Custom and auto-detect won't touch it again. If you'd rather let detection refresh a field, clear your edit first.
Clear all fields. The link at the bottom right wipes the whole Brand Kit. There's no undo, so only use it if you're starting over from scratch, like after a full rebrand.
Common questions
- Do I have to fill everything in?
- No, but the more you fill in, the less editing you'll do later. Logos, Brand Style, and AI Instructions have the biggest effect.
- Will running Auto-detect again undo my work?
- No. Anything marked Custom is left alone. Only AI generated fields get refreshed.
- Do the store screenshots show up in my popups?
- No. They're reference material for the AI only.
- I updated my Brand Kit. Do my existing popups change?
- No. The Brand Kit applies when a popup is generated. Existing popups stay as they are until you regenerate them.
