Getting started with Pop Convert

Welcome to Pop Convert, the easiest way to create popups, smart bars, and social proof notifications that help you engage visitors, grow leads, and increase sales on your Shopify store. This guide will walk you through the first steps to set everything up and launch your first campaign.

What is Pop Convert?

Pop Convert is a Shopify-native marketing app that lets you build high-converting popups, smart bars, and social proof notifications without coding. Use it to:

  • Capture email & SMS subscribers
  • Promote offers with coupon popups
  • Showcase social proof to boost trust
  • Direct visitors to landing pages or products
  • Recover abandoned carts with targeted messages

1. Install & activate the app

  1. Install Pop Convert from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Once installed, make sure the Pop Convert App Embed is enabled in your Shopify theme settings so popups and bars can appear on your storefront.

2. Create your first popup

  1. In the Pop Convert dashboard, go to Popups > Campaigns.
  2. Click Create Popup.
  3. Give your popup a name (e.g., Newsletter Signup).
  4. Choose the goal (e.g., Get Subscribers, Announcement, Coupon, Spin-to-Win).
  5. Customize design, text, buttons, and layout to match your brand.
  6. Set Display Rules to decide when and where the popup appears (delay, exit intent, scroll triggers, etc.).
  7. Save & Publish your popup.

3. Add smart bars (Optional)

Smart bars are thin banners shown at the top or bottom of your site — great for high-visibility messages like free shipping, promotions, or newsletter signups.

  1. Go to Smart Bars in the dashboard.
  2. Pick a template, edit text, colors, and choose display rules.
  3. Save and turn it on.

4. Enable social proof notifications (Optional)

Show real-time activity like purchases, add-to-cart events, or recent visits to build trust and encourage conversions.

  1. Navigate to Social Proof in the dashboard.
  2. Select which activity types you want to show.
  3. Customize style and timing, then publish.

5. Connect email & automations

To follow up with subscribers or customers:

  • Link your popup forms to an email or automation sequence.
  • Create automated emails like welcome messages, reminders for cart abandoners, or thank-you emails.

This keeps you connected with visitors even after they leave your site.

6. Test & preview

Before you go live:

  • Use Preview Mode to see how your popup looks on desktop & mobile.
  • Test triggers (e.g., delay, exit intent).
  • Adjust messaging, targeting, and design until everything feels right.

7. Track performance

Monitor how your campaigns are performing by checking:

  • Views and impressions
  • Click-through rates
  • Email signups
  • Conversions & sales impact

Use these metrics to refine your campaigns over time.

Pro Tips

  • Start with one clear goal per popup. Focus your message.
  • Use engaging triggers like exit intent or scroll depth to show popups at the right moment.
  • Keep designs simple and mobile-friendly.
  • Use urgency (countdowns or limited-time offers) to boost actions.
