Mobile popups are outperforming desktop
More of your visitors are on mobile than ever, and popups optimized for small screens are converting at a noticeably higher rate this year. A quick audit could make a real difference.

Why mobile is winning right now
Visitors on mobile have shorter attention windows — but they're also more likely to act immediately when a popup feels native to their device. A popup that looks crisp, loads fast, and has a thumb-friendly button can outperform a polished desktop version by a wide margin.
The gap has been widening because many popup designs are still built desktop-first. If you haven't previewed yours on a 375px screen lately, there's a good chance it's losing conversions it should be capturing.
What to check in your popup
- Text is readable without zooming.
Body text should be at least 14px. Anything smaller forces visitors to pinch-zoom — most won't bother. - The CTA button is at least 44px tall.
Apple and Google both recommend a minimum touch target of 44×44px. A button that's too small will get missed or misfired. - The close button is easy to find and tap.
If visitors can't dismiss your popup quickly, they'll leave the page entirely. Place the close icon in the top-right corner with enough padding around it. - The popup doesn't cover the entire screen.
Full-screen overlays on mobile can feel aggressive and trigger higher abandonment. Aim for 80–90% of screen height at most, so users can still see the page behind it. - Images and copy are short and punchy.
Mobile visitors skim. Trim your headline to one clear benefit and your body copy to two lines max. - Timing is right for mobile behavior.
Consider triggering your popup slightly later on mobile — visitors often need a moment to orient before they're ready to engage.
Quick tip
Use Pop Convert's built-in mobile preview to see exactly how your popup looks on common screen sizes before publishing. Open any popup in the editor and click the mobile icon in the top toolbar.
How to preview your popup on mobile
You don't need a physical phone to check this. In the Pop Convert editor, every popup has a device option in the top bar. Select the mobile view and scroll through the experience as a visitor would — pay attention to whether any text gets cut off and whether buttons feel reachable with your thumb.
For a real-device check, use the Preview feature, copy the link, and open it on your mobile device.
